Chris Brown Leaves Social Media After Frank Ocean Scuffle

Chris Brown is leaving 2 million followers behind by making his Instagram account private months after quitting and revamping his Twitter page.

Brown, 23-year-old Grammy Award winning singer, decided to let his fans know about his decision to detach himself from social media on Tuesday.

"Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons," Brown wrote to fans on his Instagram account. "So with that, I'm detaching myself from that world."

The singer's decision comes after reports that he was involved in a physical scuffle with singer Frank Ocean that authorities are still investigating. While Brown thanked his fans for their support on his Instagram account, some took to Twitter to react to the singer's big news.

One person did not seem surprised that Brown decided to detach himself by changing his approach to using social media.

"Is it really breaking news that Chris Brown quits (Instagram)...doesn't he quit every other week," the person questioned.

Another person expressed disappointment in Brown's decision.

"I'm sad. @chrisbrown is the whole reason i got a twitter and an Instagram & now he's gone from both," the person tweeted.

Although Brown's Twitter account is still active, no personal messages have been written on the social networking website since November, when he let the world know that he would stop using it. All of the messages posted on his Twitter account are either written by his staff or others who tweet about his appearances, charities and other promotions.

Last November, Brown engaged in a Twitter feud with comedian and writer Jenny Johnson, which resulted in the singer taking down his social networking page. The incident also sparked angry comments and threats towards Johnson from the singer's fans.

Brown seemed to be insulted when Jones responded to a message that the singer posted about him looking older than his 23 years of age.

"I know! Being a worthless piece of (expletive) can really age a person," Jones tweeted the singer.

The singer responded with sexually explicit tweets aimed at Johnson, who decided to post a 2009 article detailing his physical altercation with Rihanna on the social networking website. Johnson explained her lack of respect for Brown to over 300,000 Twitter followers.

While Brown responded to the comedian with vulgarities, he ultimately decided to delete his Twitter after Johnson said his fans physically threatened her. Two months later, his Instagram account is now private.
