'No regrets': Christians react after DeSantis drops out, endorses Trump

Bob Vander Plaats, president of the Iowa-based conservative Christian advocacy group The FAMiLY Leader, who announced his support for DeSantis in November, took to social media to reiterate his support.

"No regrets in supporting [DeSantis]. He is a class act who has accomplished much for Florida and our country," tweeted Vander Plaats.

"He truly is a 'Shepherd' of Government. He and [his wife Casey] exemplify the best of America and provide much hope for our future."

In an earlier interview with The Christian Post, Vander Plaats said he believed DeSantis had a good chance of winning the Iowa caucus despite poll numbers indicating that Trump would win.

"I see Iowans by and large appreciative of the former president and the things that he did in his administration but exhausted by the continual look at the past and complaint about the past, and so, therefore, I think they're looking forward to turn the page and move on," he claimed back in September 2023.

"And I think you have candidates from DeSantis to Ramaswamy to Tim Scott to Nikki Haley to Mike Pence, who are all making a strong vie for that support."
