Demi Lovato and Twitter Separate to Avoid 'Trouble'
Active Twitter user Demi Lovato has announced she is quitting the social media site.
Over the weekend the "Give Your Heart a Break" singer wrote on her account, "Twitter break. It's for the best actually. Who allows me to have this thing anyways?!!! I just get myself in trouble! Haha. Anyway… BYE!"
Lovato's departure from the social media site comes as she reportedly broke up with 31-year-old actor Wilmer Valderrama.
The "trouble" Lovato refers to could possibly have to do with her controversial tweets of the past.
"Loyalty is EVERYTHING," wrote Lovato on her Twitter account ahead of break-up reports this month. "I'm thankful for my friends who stand by my side."
The tweet sparked rumors of trouble in her relationship, especially after the star wrote a quote by Marilyn Monroe on her account.
"A wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left," said Lovato's post.
Lovato then added, "The smartest thing a woman can ever learn, is to never need a man."
Also, just weeks ago the star went on a tweet tangent pertaining to her relationship with God.
"Sometimes it seems like God just keeps throwing crap my way and I get SO angry with him," wrote Lovato to her 5.6 million Twitter followers. "But there's never a doubt in my mind He's gonna pull me through it all."
The former Disney actress added, "I know you're there God. But umm… Really dude?"
The honest celebrity also admitted her daily struggle with understanding God's presence in her life, with her Twitter fury including, "He never fails to show me He's by my side though. Even in the tough times. #Godstuff."
Lovato had often used the site to speak out on controversial issues such as her drug use, experiences, and anorexia. Over the past year, the 19-year-old has confessed to "self-medicating" by experimenting with drugs and alcohol, and even cutting.
The singer is not the first celebrity to cut back on their Twitter activity. Ashton Kutcher announced that he would be changing the way he used the social media site late last year, and Alec Baldwin recently reactivated his Twitter account after a temporary absence.
