Dunkin Donuts Gluten-Free Donuts Now Offered
Dunkin Donuts announced Wednesday that it will be offering gluten-free baked goods nationwide this year.
Celiac disease, a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine due to a reaction to gluten, is affecting more people than ever today. With the number of people with celiac disease on the rise, food vendors have had to make drastic changes to their products, and Dunkin Donuts is no exception.
The coffeehouse announced that it will begin offering gluten-free doughnuts as well as muffins in all its U.S. locations this year.

"At Dunkin' Donuts, we recognize the importance of providing our guests with many options, including alternative choices for people with food and dietary restrictions," said director of global public relations Michelle King in an email, according to Boston.com.
The company is gearing up to introduce a national media campaign focused on its drinks rather than any of its food offerings.
"We are a beverage company," Paul Carbone told investors and analysts this week, according to Forbes.
The company is the first fast food outlet to offer gluten-free products.
Furthermore, many customers are demanding "natural" as well as gluten-free food offerings, and Dunkin Donuts is not the only chain to revamp their menu.
McDonald's recently expanded their food offerings to include healthier choices in order to meet today's trends, and added items such as salads, wraps and smoothies.
Meanwhile, Dunkin Donuts is also looking to establish stores out west, specifically California, where the Massachusetts-based chain has no presence to date.
Dunkin Donuts was founded in 1950 by William Rosenberg and is based in Canton, Mass. The chain primarily competes with Starbucks, with half its sales in coffee, while it also competes with Krispy Kreme for doughnut sales.
