5 reactions to Trump's tweet signaling his potential arrest

5. 'The View' panelists decry 'scary' post as 'call to arms'

On Monday's edition of "The View," the vehemently anti-Trump panelists addressed the latter part of Trump's Truth Social post, specifically the call to "protest" and "take our nation back."

Co-host Ana Navarro accused "Trump and his minions" of "trying to extort the American legal system" and "trying to extort the American people, threaten them, be thugs about it and say 'if you arrest me, there's going to be protests.'"

Outlining the common refrains about the investigation into the former president that "you shouldn't arrest him because it's going to embolden his supporters" and "it's all a political prosecution," Navarro declared: "What would be political is to not prosecute somebody who's committed a crime and has been indicted just because he's a former president."

"That's not what we do in this country. That's what happens in places like Cuba, like Nicaragua, like North Korea. In the United States, the thing that sets us apart is that nobody is above the law," she proclaimed.

"The View" co-host Sara Haines characterized the statement as a "call to arms" and "a warning," while her fellow panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin used the term "intimidation tactic."

Haines summarized the post as a warning that "there might be a Jan. 6 part 2 if you push through with this."

Griffin agreed, surmising that "the language that he's using is scary." She recalled that "we saw it on Jan. 6, when he says 'get out, take your country back, protest,'" expressing concern that similar violence will erupt in the event of the former president's arrest: "We know what he's calling for."
