Galaxy Note 8.0 Brown Model Now Available in the US
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is now available in brown for customers in the U.S.
The company confirmed this new color earlier this month. The 16GB model with Wi-Fi retails for $399.99 and can be purchased from Best Buy, Buy Dig and B&H photo video.
The device might also be released in red sometime in the near future, however, that version has not been confirmed yet.
The tablet was launched by Samsung earlier this year to compete with Apple's wildly successful iPad Mini, which is around the same size. One of the main selling points of the Galaxy Note 8 is its S Pen stylus accessory, which can also be found on the original Galaxy Note and Note 2. Samsung released custom made applications that work specifically with the S Pen as well.
It sports an 8-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and 189 ppi. This is a bit higher than Apple's iPad Mini's screen, which has 163 ppi.
Other specifications on the device include a 1.6GHz quad-core A9 processor, 2GB RAM, and special features such as Smart Stay that allows the tablet to recognize if the owner is still awake. This will make it automatically go on standby once the owner falls asleep or stops using it. It is said to be seamless and very responsive.
Samsung's new line of Galaxy Tabs will also be available in brown. The line was recently unveiled and includes the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.
The Galaxy Tab line will also have tablets that will compete with Apple's best including the iPad and iPad Mini. The 7-inch model will go up against devices such as the Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire HD.
