'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Spoilers: Violence 'Doesn't Stop' Says Kit Harington, 'Gets Darker'
"Game of Thrones" season four is in full swing with a new episode "First of His Name" set to air this week.
So far on season four, "GOT" fans have already watched the poisoning of a king, an incestuous rape, and the sacrifice of an infant to the White Walkers- just to name a few of the violent and graphic scenes that the hit HBO television series is known to include. And looking ahead, fans can look for much of the same to continue throughout the fourth season. Kit Harington, who stars as Jon Snow, offered some spoilers on the fantasy series, noting that the violence will actually increase in the coming weeks.
"It doesn't stop, either," the actor told GQ recently. "It's getting worse ... There's some scenes this season, and there's parts of it that go even darker. The gruesome stuff- we've seen 'Saw,' we know that, you can do that 'til kingdom come. People can deal it. What I wonder is how people can deal with something going dark and dark and darker. Being unrelenting in how pessimistic things are. They really push it."
Although Harington offered only subtle clues about the fourth season of "GOT," the actor revealed some clues while discussing his character, Jon Snow, who is a fan favorite.
"There's a huge amount riding on him to be a leader, and I want him to become that leader," the actor explained. "I guess for me, Jon Snow is a figure of hope within the whole thing- that he'll continue to be this good person, somehow the story will end well for everybody."
"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on HBO. The synopsis for "First of His Name" is as follows: "Jon starts a new mission; Cersei and Tywin consider the next move for the Crown; Daenerys makes plans for the future."
