'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Spoilers: Enzo is A 'Bomb Waiting to Explode,' Stefan and Damon Endangered

"The Vampire Diaries" season two returns to The CW this week with an installment entitled "What Lies Beneath" as it winds down toward the finale.

Ahead of Thursday's show, "Diaries" star Michael Malarkey revealed that just because his character Enzo is dead does not mean that Stefan or anyone else is safe. Enzo died during a battle with Stefan (Paul Wesley) after learning that the love of his life was killed by his own best friend Damon. Now, despite his death, Enzo can exact revenge from the other side.

"Now that he's flipped a switch, he has no ties holding [him] to caring about any of these people," Malarkey explained to TVGuide.com. "He's a time bomb waiting to explode. He's feeling rather anarchist, so anybody who's in his way- off with their head. Yes, he's got this vendetta with Damon and Stefan, but at the same time, if anybody gets in his way and stops him from getting what he wants, he's going to be remorseless. So that's dangerous."

In "What Lies Beneath," Damon (Ian Somerhalder) does not yet know of Enzo's death. Furthermore, with Enzo on the other side, he is able to see that the world he just left is on its way to destruction.

"There are rifts happening and everyone on the other side if freaking out," Malarkey added. "Enzo is quite quick to join the club, like, 'Maybe this isn't a good place to be.' He meets some strangers along the way who he may or may not use to get what he wants [which is] to get out of there."

Executive producer Caroline Dries added that despite Enzo's desire to leave the place of afterlife, he will prove dangerous.

"You just wait, you just wait and see- he's determined to make Damon's life and Stefan's life a living hell," she told Entertainment Weekly.

Looking ahead, Dries said that the season five finale of "Vampire Diaries" will see some major twists, including major deaths. Stay tuned to The Christian Post for more details on the finale.

"The Vampire Diaries" airs Thursdays on The CW at 8 p.m. EST. The synopsis for this week's episode "What Lies Beneath" is as follows: "Damon takes Stefan and Elena to a cabin to keep them safe, and then he devises a parlor game to get them to reveal a secret they've been hiding.
