George Zimmerman's Defense Atty Eats Celebration Cones With Daughter in Controversial Photo
A controversial photo of George Zimmerman's defense attorney Don West eating ice cream with two of his daughters with the tagline "we beat stupidity celebration cones" triggered a firestorm of criticism on Friday after some took it as a potshot at the prosecution's star witness, Rachel Jeantel.
Zimmerman is facing trial on second-degree murder charges after he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin during a confrontation in February of 2012. The incident has attracted international attention due to the racial elements of the case.
According to a local10.com report, the photo was taken by West but posted to social media website Instagram by his daughter, Molly West, who walked out of court with her sister, Rachel, when they found out the photo had gone viral on Friday.

The full tagline to the photo reads: "We beat stupidity celebration cones #zimmerman #defense #dadkilledit."
"Stupidity" some viewers of the photo assumed, referred to the reaction of Rachel Jeantel, a star witness for the prosecution to the merciless grilling from West on the witness stand last Thursday.
A representative for West argued that he took the photo last Tuesday but the photo was posted by his daughter on Thursday shortly after he was done with Jeantel on the witness stand according to an ABC report.
West's camp denied he knew his daughter had posted the photo and called it "grossly insensitive."
Shawn Vincent, West's spokesman, said the attorney "was doing something he does almost every day, an old tradition with his daughters…They went out for ice cream. Don had no idea that she'd post it on Instagram."
"The girls like to make fun of their dad frequently," said Vincent. He further noted on Tuesday that West's daughters referenced his corny joke from his opening statement from the trial when they bought him Dunkin Donuts, and they wrote on the box "Knock Knock. Who's there? Donut. Donut who?"
