Greg Kelly Accuser Claims Rape, Abortion; Case May Be Dropped

Greg Kelly's accuser now claims that she became pregnant and opted to have an abortion after being raped, but the Manhattan District Attorney's is questioning her credibility.

Kelly, who is taking a break from his anchor role on "Good Day New York," is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on Oct. 8 and recently denied the rape allegations through his attorney, according to Daily Mail.

"[Greg Kelly] strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind. We know that the district attorney's investigation will prove Mr. Kelly's innocence," Kelly's attorney Andrew Lankler wrote in an email statement.

Kelly's accuser, who reportedly waited three months to file a complaint, claims that she was subject to the assault after meeting Kelly on the streets and going out for drinks.

The woman, whose name is being withheld, claims that she became pregnant as a result of the rape and had an abortion, though sources say she maintained text and email contact with Kelly after the alleged rape, which has raised red flags.

"It sounds like a bunch of BS. It sounds like she got caught [cheating] by her boyfriend, and then he forces her hand: 'If you're not lying, you better report,'" a law enforcement source told The New York Post.

The source also pointed out that the District Attorney's office may not file criminal charges because some information, including the three-month time lapse and the accuser's willingness to maintain contact with a man who allegedly raped her, is questionable.

Some critics have accused the DA's office of giving Kelly special treatment simply because he is the son of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, although law enforcement officials insist this is not the case.

After receiving heavy criticism for the way that it handled the Dominique Strauss-Kahn case, sources claim that the DA's office are approaching Kelly's accuser's rape allegations with caution to prevent a repeat of the controversial case where Strauss-Kahn's accuser was eventually dismissed as a liar.

It is unclear when the DA's office will decide whether or not to pursue the case.
