Hands-Free Whopper: Burger King Celebrates Puerto Rico Anniversary (VIDEO)
Burger King has launched a hands-free Whopper holder in celebration of Puerto Rico's 50th year as part of the U.S.
Initially sounding like a hoax, the restaurant chain gave out a few dozen harmonica mouthpiece-looking burger holders to customers in Puerto Rico, according to The Inquisitr.
In promotion of this zany marketing product, they released a music video showing the everyday multi-tasking abilities now available to people who choose to eat their Whoppers in the holder.
"In a multitasking world, how can we help people use their hands to do their everyday chores and enjoy their Whopper at the same time?" they asked in a statement.
Burger King seems to be doing their own thing when it comes to fast food. While franchises like McDonald's and Wendy's are focusing more on healthy eating and better quality foods as a a marketing campaign, BK is keeping things fun and enjoyable with their customers.
"We don't sell junk food," McDonald's CEO Don Thompson said as they launch kiwi and pineapple on a stick, smoothies, egg whites, and McWraps.
They are also launching a line of new quarter pounders and dropping the Angus beef line.
Wendy's has a similar take, promoting various salad's and grilled chicken courses. They also have a bacon cheedar pretzel burger coming.
"Our industry sources inform us that the Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger, to be launched nationally at some point during 2013, was one of Wendy's most successful test products from the last 20 years," analyst Mark Kalinowski wrote reports WebProNews. "As such, we believe the national launch will lead to some meaningful acceleration in Wendy's same-store sales."
As of now Burger King's Whopper holder is a one time thing in Puerto Rico.
