Hollie Cavanagh Booted Off 'Idol,' Will Pursue Career
"American Idol" competitor Hollie Cavanagh has been sent home with the fewest votes in five weeks on Thursday.
The British-born Texas singer failed to stay in the competition despite having a powerful voice.
Thursday's episode saw Cavanagh cover Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me," which "Idol" judges said failed to make an emotional connection.

While no one is sure why the singer received such low ratings, Cavanagh, 18, insists nerves were not the problem with her performance.
"I didn't really feel nervous singing that song," she told MTV News. "I really did love that song, and I definitely felt it, but I've said this every time. It's one thing for me to feel it, but if nobody else does, then that's not how a song should be performed."
Cavanagh's elimination Thursday marked the second time the singer has been sent home early from the show as she appeared on Season 10 and only made the top 40 during that season.
After finishing in the top four this season, Cavanagh commented on how far she has come since the last time she was on "Idol."
"Everyone's been saying that they've seen such a big change in me and that I've grown so much," said the singer. "I wanted people to see a change in me, and I wanted people to see that I got better each week. That was a big thing for me."
Looking to her future, Cavanagh not only confirmed she plans to pursue a musical career, but has selected a genre.
"I'd definitely like to be pop," said the singer, according to USA Today. "I want to start making music that's on the charts now, that's played on the radio, that's, like, a good-selling song. I think now is the point when I figure out the direction I want to go and start learning the kind of songs I want to write."
Three remain in the competition on "American Idol," which airs on Fox Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST.
