HTC One 2014 Rumors: Successor to Launch Q1 of Next Year

The HTC One successor could launch in the first quarter of 2014, according to the latest rumors.

The device is expected to be released on all four major American carriers by the end of that part of the year, according to inside sources who communicated this information with @evleaks recently.

Verizon will be getting a head start with this model as it was the last of the four majors to drop the original One.

A device that could be the successor to the HTC One flagship device was spotted in some new photos that surfaced last week.

The handset, tentatively called the M8, appeared in this pictures and featured a design very similar to the HTC One. The images surfaced through a Chinese leaker. @evleaks revealed the M8 codename that exists internally at this time.

The HTC One was originally called the M7 which ran Sense 5, so the M8 will be the first to utilize Sense 6.

Differences in design from its predecessor can be seen in the metal body that now wraps around the edges instead of having straight sides with chamfered edges. It actually resembles the One X more.

A small round hole can be seen above the camera on the back of the device. This could be used as an opening for a fingerprint scanner or a secondary camera lens.

Internal specs for the handset are expected to be a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM and a Full HD display, but nothing is confirmed at this time.

The HTC One launched back in the beginning of this year and is scheduled to receive Android 4.4 sometime soon. KitKat ROMs are already available for the device. The M8 might launch running KitKat out of the box.
