iPad 5 Event: Apple Begins Decorating for Event

The iPad 5 release event is less than a week away and Apple has been spotted putting up decorations at the Yerba Buena Center where it will take place.

MacRumors David Jones sent out a picture of some of the colorful decorations that will go up on the side of the building that is located in San Francisco. Some of the graphics seen look a lot like what was seen on the invitations for the event.

New iPad mini 2 rumors point to the device featuring a thicker frame in order to accommodate the Retina screen on the device.

The thickness will go from 7.2mm to 7.5mm, according to a report from Japanese site Macotakara.

Leaked cases meant for the mini 2 revealed this information about the device. The new ones rumored to be used for it are a bit thicker and wider than those made for the current version.

The iPad mini 2 is expected to debut at the event.

The iPad mini that will debut at the event might not be the version with Retina as the release for that model could end up being pushed back to 2014.

Apple seems to have encountered issues with the production of that version that will force the company to delay its release, according to a report from Reuters. The publication's sources claim that Apple will have to wait until early next year to launch or will resort to releasing it this year in very limited quantities.

Apple's reason for the delay appears to be related to the retina display, but specifics on the issue are unavailable at this time. One of the sources said there were delays in Apple's certification of panel producers. They were given strict power-saving requirements that some might have been unable to meet.
