iPhone 5 Release Date Rumors: Samsung Seeks to Ban Apple Product Before Launch

Samsung has launched an attempt to ban Apple's iPhone 5 in South Korea, various media reports have claimed.

Samsung is ensuing an ongoing battle with Apple over its patents by trying to ban it in the country even before its release.

"Just after the arrival of the iPhone 5 here, Samsung plans to take Apple to court here for its violation of Samsung's wireless technology related patents," a Samsung executive told the Korean Times.

He added: "For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights."

Another Samsung executive told The Korea Times, "We are taking different tactics since we are quite confident. If Samsung wins in Germany that will give us a big breakthrough and so will other envisioned efforts against such products as the iPhone 5."

In retaliation to Apple's lawsuits against the Korean electronics company, the latter has also filed a new lawsuit over wireless patent infringement in Australia regarding seven patents in Apple's Iphone 3G, Iphone 3GS, Iphone 4 and Ipad 2.

The two rival companies have been suing each other in 23 countries so far.
