iPhone 5 Release Date: Verizon Sells 2M iPhones in September Quarter
Verizon sold 2 million iPhone units in the September quarter, according to a recent announcement made by the carrier.
This news comes from a report which reveals that Verizon partnered with UK multinational mobile network operator Vodafone sold this amount of iPhones which represents a 300,000 units decline compared to the June quarter.
It also puts Verizon behind its biggest rival AT&T who reported that it sold 2.7 million iPhones in this quarter out of a total of 4.8 million devices.
AT&T also recently reported that it activated a million units of Apple’s new iPhone 4S which launched earlier this month.
Verizon failed to mention the amount of iPhone 4S’s it sold this quarter in the report.
The new smartphone is currently available in the United States, UK, Australia, France, Germany, Canada and Japan.
The iPhone 4S will roll out to 22 new countries later this month.
Apple reported that it sold 4 million iPhone 4S units in the first three days of its release.
It has been the most successful iPhone launch to date for the company who just lost its founding father with the passing of the late great tech innovator Steve Jobs.
The iPhone 4S is available on AT&T, C Spire, Sprint and Verizon who began carrying the iPhone 4 earlier this year.
Verizon was the first other carrier aside from AT&T to make the iPhone available to its subscribers.
The original iPhone was released on AT&T in 2007 who remained the only carrier of the iPhone until this year.
With the release of the iPhone 4S, Apple is attempting to expand in order to better compete with Android who currently has numerous devices available on all networks.
C Spire, a small southern network service provider is the latest addition to the iPhone 4S family.
