iPhone 5 Release: iPhone 4S App Helps Man Catch Cheating Spouse
A man has reported that an app on the newly released iPhone 4S has helped him catch his wife in the act of cheating.
The man posted his story on the MacRumors forum under the name ThomasMetz, detailing that he used the new 'Find My Friends' app on the iPhone 4S to locate his wife while she was visiting another man.
“I got my wife a new 4S and loaded up Find My Friends without her knowing,” he wrote.
“She told me she was at her friend’s house in the east village.”
According to ThomasMetz, the app showed that his wife was not at the location she told him, but in a completely different part of the city.
“I've had suspicions about her meeting this guy who lives uptown. Lo and behold, Find my Friends has her right there.”
The Find My Friends app uses the GPS capabilities on the iPhone 4 to help determine the location of a person's family and friends on a map.
Apple details that the app can be useful for keeping track of travel companions when on vacation, keeping tabs on children or locating friends when meeting up for dinner in a public place.
While the app's tracking capabilities can be shut off to protect privacy, the man's wife had no idea it was even on her phone.
He texted her at different times late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, and says she lied to him about where she was on several occasions.
He also noted that he was able to save the screen shots of their texting dialogue and of her location according to the Find My Friends app.
The screen shots, he said, are a “beautiful treasure trove” that will work to his advantage when he meets with a divorce lawyer in several weeks.
