Jahi McMath's Mother Speaks Out: Have Faith, My Daughter is 'Much Better'
Jahi McMath's mother is speaking out and giving the world an update on her daughter's condition after being treated at an undisclosed location for over one month. Naliah Winkfield issued a letter thanking everyone for their prayers, praising God for Jahi, and stating that the 13-year-old is doing much better since being released from the hospital.
Winkfield had to fight for custody of her daughter after Jahi was pronounced brain dead by doctors at Children's Hospital Oakland. Doctors wanted to take the teen off of life support and allow her to die, but Winkfield adamantly refused, saying that her daughter was still alive and just needed more time to recover from the complications she suffered after a routine tonsillectomy.
After a bitter court battle between Winkfield and the hospital, she was finally granted the right to take her daughter out of the hospital and move her to a treatment facility of her choosing. That's where Jahi has been for over one month and, according to Winkfield, is doing much better.

"Despite what people say about my daughter being dead and how I must be ignorant not to get that, I can tell you that she is much better physically since she has left Children's Hospital, and I see changes that give me hope," Winfield wrote. "As I prayed today, I felt called to express to people that I am truly grateful for the amount of love and support my daughter Jahi McMath and I have received from people all over the world."
"It is my belief that faith in God, you prayers, and the incredible kindness of good-hearted medical professionals are the main reasons my daughter is alive today. I know people are concerned and I want to make sure you know that Jahi is not suffering, she is surrounded by love. I will never let her suffer," she continued.
Throughout the ordeal, Winkfield has held onto her faith, always believing that God would heal her daughter in God's own time. It's clear from her letter that she still clings to that faith and puts her trust in God.
"For those who believe, please keep praying for Jahi," Winkfield concludes. "God can overcome all things and I believe that His will has yet to be fully revealed. I love Jahi, and where there is love, there is hope."
