Jennifer Williams Talks New Reality Show Being Different From "Basketball Wives"
Jennifer Williams may no longer be a member on the VH1 show "Basketball Wives," but she recently appeared on BET's "Mind Body and Soul" to reveal why her upcoming reality television show will be different.
Although the entrepreneur and reality television star rose to fame on "Basketball Wives," things took a turn for the worse during season four of the show which was her last. She was physically assaulted by the assistant of her former best friend and fellow castmate Evelyn Lozada.
Still, Williams recently appeared on Bishop T.D. Jakes' "Mind Body and Soul" talk show where she spoke about being able to trust the production staff on her upcoming reality television series, something that she could not previously do.
"Now going through it, I'm going to be having some control over editing... I want to be able to tell my story 100 percent," Williams said on the show that aired Sunday. "('Basketball Wives' didn't show my evolution. I feel like it just focused on drama with a friend. I just want to tell my story in the right light."
Williams let viewers know that they had the right to protest against programming that presents a negative image to audiences, which many did after she was assaulted on "Basketball Wives." The move resulted in sponsors backing away from the program with the show's other cast members vowing to present a better image to viewers.
When Jakes questioned if she regrets her time on "Basketball Wives" that resulted in the loss of a friendship, Williams responded candidly. She said that the day she was physically assaulted during season four made her a stronger person.
"I don't live with regrets so I feel the experience I went through was supposed to happen. Honestly I feel like it made me a stronger person," Williams said on the BET show. "I had to go home that night (of the assault) and deal with my feelings. It really did make me a stronger person."
The reality television personality reportedly had a conversation with reality television show producer Mona Scott Young about starring in a spin-off series that will feature her Lucid Cosmetics makeup line and celebrity relationships, according to a previous everythinggirlslove.com report. Williams, the creator of Lucid cosmetics, is no stranger to the entertainment world and is reportedly dating Cisco Rosado of CMG Entertainment after divorcing her ex-husband and former NBA player Eric Williams.
Shaunie O'Neal, executive producer and cast member of "Basketball Wives," may regret Williams no longer being a part of her show
"You have other people that situations made it bad and situations made your friendship different… [things] that are out of your control," O'Neal said in Sister 2 Sister magazine previously. "I hate to see those moments happen. That's not a great way to see somebody go."
