Shaunie O'Neal Said Evelyn Lozada Had Rough Time Filming 'Baketball Wives' New Season

Shaunie O'Neal, executive producer of "Basketball Wives," recently revealed that it was hard to watch friend and and fellow cast member Evelyn Lozada get through a domestic dispute with ex-husband and NFL player Chad Johnson on the upcoming season.

"It was rough. It's a whole lot of crying," O'Neal revealed to theGrio.com recently. "I tease her now when we talk, like, 'I stopped counting how many times you cried this season, and how many times you made me almost cry.'"

O'Neal went on to explain why season five of "Basketball Wives" was so emotional for Lozada who broke things off with Johnson last year after he physically assaulted her.

" A lot of it was us hearing some things for the first time. She let's go a lot on the show, because it was so new when we were filming," O'Neal revealed to theGrio.com. "It's very emotional… it's extremely emotional."

O'Neal, came under fire when things turned violent on season four of the popular VH1 reality television series. Jennifer Williams, the estranged wife of former NBA player Eric Williams, was physically assaulted by the assistant of her former best friend and fellow cast mate Lozada, 37.While petitions were created to end the show, O'Neal revealed the change in direction of the series.

"You'll see a lot of growth. Just filming this season I felt the growth," she told theGrio.com. "This is like a mirror. We've been able to look at ourselves for four seasons, and now going into the fifth, it's like 'I gotta do better.'"

In a previous interview with Vibe Vixen, Lozada spoke about learning to control her emotions on season five of the show that made her popular.

"I'm still going to have my little quotes; this is just who Evelyn is. And at the same time, I need to learn to handle certain situations," Lozada told Vibe Vixen. "But if somebody is coming at me, I'm going to protect myself."
