Jolie Buys Pitt a Waterfall for Christmas

Angelina Jolie has bestowed her long-time partner Brad Pitt with a waterfall in California as well as the land surrounding it.

Reports indicate that the purchase was not only a Christmas gift, but a birthday present to Pitt who turned 48 on Dec. 18.

Sources close to the couple say that Jolie's gift was influenced by architect Frank Lloyd Wright's classic house, Fallingwater.

The U.K.'s Daily Mail reported that Pitt and Jolie visited the home built over a waterfall in 2006. Pitt, an architect buff, had been longing to see the 1935 home ever since reading about it while he was in college.

"Brad has always loved Fallingwater and his first trip there was unforgettable," the insider said, speaking to the Daily Mail.

"Angelina wanted to get him something incredibly special and, because she knows how much he loves architecture, she thought this would be perfect," the source added.

According to the insider, Pitt has plans to build a house on the new property.

"Brad has dreamed of a home with the sound of a waterfall cascading under the house… Brad has always wanted design his own house," the source explained. "He wants to pull all aspects of nature, light, glass and varying levels into the concept."

In a past interview from 2008 following his involvement with the construction of an environmentally-friendly hotel in Dubai, Pitt said, "While acting is my career, architecture is my passion."

The Jolie-Pitts also have homes in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Cambodia, France, and Italy; in addition to their recent California acquisition.

Jolie, 36, shares six children with Pitt, who recently sold his home in the desirable Encinal Bluffs area of Calif., to comedian Ellen DeGeneres. The home overlooks the Pacific Ocean and includes a pool, tennis court, lush gardens, and access to a private beach.

The actor had purchased the four bedroom home in 2005 for $8 million following his divorce from actress Jennifer Aniston.
