Karrueche Tran Talks Relationship With Chris Brown, Meeting Rihanna

Karrueche Tran made headlines for dating Chris Brown for a few years but is proving that she has a voice of her own in a recent interview where she opens up about her famous relationship, clothing line and meeting with Rihanna.

Tran, 24-year-old designer of upcoming clothing line "The Kill," was publicly dumped by Brown last October when he released a statement saying that he wanted to focus on a friendship with Rihanna. However, she revealed to Vibe magazine that she never expected to become involved with the 23-year-old R&B star in the first place.

They too started a romantic relationship as friends.

"I didn't expect it at all," Tran told Vibe. "We were friends for a while before we started dating."

However, Tran also went into business with her ex-boyfriend who asked her to create a female clothing line to complement his own Black Pyramid project. Despite the fact that she is no longer romantically involved with Brown, Tran told Vibe about the role she plays in the collaborative clothing line project with Brown.

"Chris [Brown] wanted to do a female line for his men's line ["Black Pyramid"]. So he asked me to take over and "The Kill" was gonna be a women's only line but it's actually unisex," Tran explained to the publication. "It's been a few months. When I first started, I pretty much thought of the name. Then from there, we started making very basic sample t-shirts, hats, beanies and socks. That's what a lot of people saw online and on Instagram."

After recent images surfaced about Tran appearing at a California trade show with Brown following his holiday with Rihanna, Tran spoke about how she felt working with her ex-boyfriend.

"At the end of the day, he will always be a friend. We'll always care about each other," Tran told Vibe. "We won't allow that to interfere. Our business is business."

While Tran admitted that she was not happy with her love life at the moment, she is making the best of it after watching Brown seem to rekindle his romance with ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

"It's a lot going on but it could be a lot worse. And that's how I look at life. I take it for what it is," Tran told the publication. "I move forward, grow from it and at this point, that's what I'm doing. I'm not gonna sit and dwell and become consumed in that negativity because I could very much be that person, especially when things are so public and so thrown in my face."

The clothing designer who recently signed a contract with a model management company told Vibe that while she is a mature individual, it may be hard to face Rihanna and Brown together when the time comes.

"For everybody, emotionally, that would just be way too much. I'm a very mature person so if the time ever did come where we would need to sit down and talk, I'd do it," Tran said. "I'm a mature person. I can work it out but that would be a lot.Yeah, it would be a lot."

Some people took to Twitter to show Tran respect after reading her interview with Vibe.

"The interview with Kae and VIBE is heavy, if you didn't respect her before, after reading it you sure as hell will," one person tweeted.

However, others thought the designer was focusing too much on her relationship with Brown.

"Karrueche really (plays) up the fact that she was with CB," one person tweeted. "She's not even using it as a stepping stone like Draya did.She lives that role."

While Rihanna did not comment directly on the matter, she posted an Instagram photograph saying, "what Susie says of Sally says more of Susie than of Sally."

The 24-year-old Barbadian pop star posted a seemingly aggressive caption with the photograph saying, "Watch what you say to/about people! Cuz you only wind up dragging your skeletons out your own closet, all while looking like a (expletive)."
