Kate and William Leave for Final Vacation Before Baby Arrives
Prince William and Duchess Kate left for a final vacation before becoming parents, reports have stated. The two went to a Caribbean villa alone but will be joined by Kate's parents, who are staying at a nearby property so the couple can have their privacy.
Both couples are staying on the island of Mustique, which has been a royal vacation destination for some time. Princess Margaret once stayed there, and Will and Kate have stayed there more than five or six times. They have their own private villa and will remain there for at least one week before returning back to royal duties.
Kate and William have been under-the-radar since a health scare during the early weeks of Kate's pregnancy. They have largely remained out of the spotlight in order to keep Kate healthy and stress-free while she is pregnant. Kate has remained at home, recovering from intense morning sickness, but recently announced that she will be returning to the public sphere.
She is due to visit Hope House, Action on Addiction, on Tuesday, Feb. 19. It will be her second public appearance since the pregnancy announcement. The first official appearance was at the revealing of her official royal portrait at the National Portrait Gallery.
Both Kate and William are dedicated to being hands-on parents and breaking with the royal tradition of hiring multiple nannies and assistants. They recently placed an ad for a single position within their home, which some have said shows just how progressive they are.
"They want to be as hands-on as possible," a source told Us Weekly. William was raised by his mother, Diana, and a handful of assistants, while Kate was raised exclusively by her parents.
William has let it be known that he wants his son or daughter to grow up in a more stable, modern environment than he and his brother Harry were. The royal prince or princess is due in July.
