Katy Perry Had Doubts About John Mayer; Split Caused by 'Different Personalities?'
Katy Perry is said to be relieved that her relationship with John Mayer is over as the pop star had doubts for quite some time.
The "Dark Horse" singer, 29, split from Mayer, 36, last month due to different personalities. Perry, who began dating the singer in 2012, reportedly suspected that they were just not meant to be, according to E! News.
The revelation comes one week after insiders claimed cheating influenced Perry's decision to end the relationship.
"[Katy] found text messages on John's phone from some random girl," a source told The New York Post's Page Six adding the split was "mutual" and "extremely amicable."
The "Who You Love" duo showed no signs of strain on Valentine's day when they were photographed enjoying a romantic dinner date, which has some critics concluding that their split was very abrupt.
Perry is currently in Australia promoting her Prismatic world tour which kicks off in May. This is also said to have played a role in their decision to part ways.
"She's stressed about the tour, they've been fighting. It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever," a source told Us magazine.
The pair split briefly last year before reconciling, which has some fans speculating that their latest breakup may be temporary. Perry and Mayer have not publicly confirmed split reports.
"Of course this happens all the time, I can't keep track anymore. But for now they are done," the source said, with another adding, "Not sure how long it will last this time but yes, it is off for now."
Prior to Mayer, the "Roar" singer was married to British actor Russell Brand, however, they divorced in 2012. Mayer was previously linked to Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson among other Hollywood stars.
