Kim Kardashian Divorce: Will Wedding Dress Replica Lose Value?
In light of reality television personality Kim Kardashian announcing her divorce from Kris Humphries, critics are questioning what will happen to the replica value of her wedding dress designed by Vera Wang.
The dress, featured in the “White by Vera Wang Spring 2012” collection, copies the one-of-a-kind original made for Kardashian by world renowned designer Wang, was expected to appear in David’s Bridal stores in February 2012 with a price tag of $1,500.
“So will Vera Wang go forward with her Kim Kardashian-themed wedding dresses, now that they no longer symbolize love everlasting?” questioned the NY Daily News.
Neither David’s Bridal nor the Vera Wang line has commented on the possible cancellation of the dress replica, NY Daily News reported.
The media has been abuzz after Kim Kardashian announced Monday that she and spouse of 72 days, Kris Humphries, would be divorcing. Due to the marriage’s short shelf life, critics have questioned whether Kardashian married for publicity with a $10 million lavish ceremony in Montecito.
“I married for love. I can't believe I even have to defend this,” said Kardashian in her latest blog post.
Although under public scrutiny, Kardashian continues to receive the support of her family.
“My sister is obviously going through a lot and we're obviously very supportive of whatever decision she makes," said Rob Kardashian to E! Entertainment.
Mother Kris Jenner has also taken to the radio airwaves to vigorously defend her daughter’s decision.
“People have to calm down for a minute and realize no one's doing anything crazy, it's just a horrible, horrible situation. I feel bad for the kids,” said Jenner on the “Johnjay and Rich” radio show Tuesday.
She also added that allegations concerning Kardashian’s motives for marriage “couldn’t be further from the truth.”
After TMZ announced it had attained documents citing Kardashian’s divorce from Humphries on Monday, Oct. 31, Kardashian released a statement to E! News, confirming the rumors.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” Kardashian said.
"I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things do not work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best,” she added.
Rumors circulated over the couple’s rocky marriage when Kardashian reportedly spent her Halloween weekend alone.
Kardashian cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her split from spouse Humphries.
Kardashian and Humphries share a prenuptial agreement, which will prove a financially wise decision, as TMZ estimated Kardashian’s worth to be $35 million and Humphries worth $8 million.
Sources claim celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser will represent Kardashian.
