Kris Humphries Serves Kanye West Subpoena In Nordstrom Box on Kim Kardashian Doorstep
NBA Nets star Kris Humphries has attempted to subpoena singer Kanye West by placing legal papers in a Nordstrom shoebox on the doorstep of Kim Kardashian's house, it was revealed in court on Wednesday, Aug. 15.
Kardashian is currently going through legal proceedings for her divorce from Humphries, to whom she was married for just 72 days.
Kardashian's lawyer, Laura Wasser, informed the judge of Humphries' ploy at Wednesday's divorce hearing in Los Angeles, which was held to determine whether the case would proceed into court or be settled.
Humphries is reportedly refusing to settle, arguing that the marriage was a fraud.
Humphries' lawyer, Marshall Waller, reportedly seeks to prove that the short-lived marriage between the NBA star and reality show star was a fake, purposefully designed ploy to boost the ratings of Kardashian's reality show, "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."
This would explain why Humphries seeks to subpoena the high-profile West, who has recently begun dating Kardashian and has appeared multiple times on her reality show.
Humphries reportedly subpoenaed the matriarch of the Kardashian clan, Kris Jenner, as well as NBC Universal and Bunim/Murray, which produce the Kardashian reality shows, according to TMZ.
Kardashian, 31, remains tight-lipped about her divorce, which she filed on Oct. 31, 2011
Last week, Kris Jenner went on "The Talk" to discuss her daughter's divorce, saying: "I said to her, you're the one living your own life, you have to be truthful to yourself -- you have to live your truth, so do what you need to do, whatever the reason is -- everyone will one day understand."
"Be true to yourself and just be happy. People go 'Oh, the wedding was fake.' What was fake would have been for her to stay where she was and not be true to herself. It was harder for her to break up than it would have been to stay," Jenner said on the talk show.
As Humphries refuses to settle the divorce case, Wednesday's hearing is ongoing.
