LG Nexus 5 Release Date and Specs Rumors Continue to Surface

The LG Nexus 5 release date will be sometime in Oct.

The device will hit stores next month, according to a report from DigiTimes, a publication who is not always consistent with its information.

The site also reported on the rumored specs for the Nexus 5 stating that it will feature a 5-inch Full HD display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, LTE support, and Android 4.4, KitKat. The device will target the mid-range segment, according to the site's sources who also confirmed that LG would definitely be the maker of the Nexus 5.

A set of videos that show off the new device were also leaked this week. A prototype model was left in a bar and picked up by someone who filmed the device. The clips reveal the boot screen on the handset, but do not confirm the actual OS that is rumored to be Android 4.4 KitKat.

The images and videos also reveal that the device is Nexus branded and that it features LG's logo on the back of it. It looks quite similar to the model that made an appearance in the Google-made video recorded on campus when the new Android 4.4 KitKat statue was erected.

The Nexus 5 smartphone could feature the same 13-megapixel camera as the LG G2.

There have already been several regulatory filings that support this assumption. It would basically be following in the footsteps of its predecessor the Nexus 4 as that device came with the same camera as the company's 2012 flagship, the LG Optimus G.

Android Authority compared the camera modules for the LG G2 to the device that has shown up in the recent FCC docs that is said to be the Nexus 5, and they appear to be strikingly similar.

The two look identical to one another, however; that still does not mean that the Nexus 5 will have the exact same shooter as the LG G2.
