Model Lauren Scruggs Gets Fitted for Prosthetic Eye Following Tragic Accident
Model Lauren Scruggs, who lost her eye after being hit by a spinning plane propeller in early December, was fitted for a new prosthetic eye on Saturday.
Lauren's mother, who maintains the CaringBridge.org site used to update supporters on her daughter's progress, wrote the new eye is "beautiful,'' on the site Thursday morning.
An ocularist fitted and measured Scruggs, 23, for the prosthetic eye on Saturday, and then "carefully painted and shaped the new eye,'' her mother wrote.

The joy of Lauren's new eye follows what Lauren's mother called an "excruciating" week for the model in a Jan. 27 post. Lauren's mom, Cheryl Scruggs, says Lauren has been recovering well but suffers from a different kind of pain now.
"Lo's physical pain has subsided a great deal,'' Cheryl wrote on Thursday."It is now the emotional pain that is the tough one."
"These last couple of weeks have been tough. Like I mentioned last week, we are making our way through the five stages of grief. Hard to say where each of us are on a given day, in a given minute. At this point, somewhere between denial, anger and bargaining, I think.''
Scruggs, also a fashion blogger, had her left eye removed, severed her left hand and suffered wounds to her head and shoulder after she accidentally walked into a spinning plane propeller in the dark. Scruggs was on a trip with a pilot friend to see Christmas lights near her Dallas hometown.
Cheryl explained in her new post how difficult the accident has been for her family.
"I feel like such a debbie-downer; not being my upbeat, positive self,'' mama Scruggs wrote."And I find it hard to write and put on paper what we are really experiencing. Have two months really gone by? Did Christmas really come and go? Is it really 2012?
"Hard to believe it's been 2 months since it all happened; sometimes it feels like a day; sometimes it feels like 5 years."
