Motorola X Phone Specs Defended by Company's Top Engineer, Bashes Galaxy S4
The Motorola X phone's specs failed to impress many tech enthusiasts after the company's unveiling of the device earlier this month.
The company's top engineer and SVP for product development Iqbal Arshad addressed some of these issues during a recent interview with CNET. In the process of defending his product, he criticized some of the other popular smartphones currently available on the market.
"Motorola's vision is to really change how smartphones work. The small computers we carry around in our pockets aren't really smart. I mean, what can you do with the Samsung Galaxy S4 that you can't do with the Galaxy S3? The answer is nothing," he said to CNET.

One of the key selling points for Motorola's new line of devices that also includes the Droids is its X8 computing system that Arshad feels is superior to what is found in the Galaxy S4 and HTC One in terms of processors.
"None of these other processors could do all the noise cancellation and offer the same level of intelligence and still be low power," he said. "What we have done with the Moto X has not been done before. It's the world's first. And we think it will change the way people make phone calls and use their phones."
The Moto X features a 720p display that failed to impress those patiently awaiting the device's unveiling. However, according to Arshad, the display found on the Galaxy S4 is not true 1080p resolution.
"Samsung is using a graphics processor, but they're using it the wrong way and their performance is actually worse than ours," he explained. "They are burning more battery life. In the case of HTC, they're using an LCD screen, which is simply an inferior technology."
The plastic design on the Galaxy S4 also failed to impress him.
