Motorola X Phone vs. Galaxy S4: Which Device is More Powerful?
The Motorola X Phone was finally unveiled by the company last week and the device's specs matched up quite well to some of the more recent rumors.
The handset will be thrown into a market that has already been set ablaze by the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One that also run the Android operating system. So how does this device match up against the mighty Galaxy S4? We'd have to look at the specs on both smartphones to see which one has more power.
Display
Samsung chose to go big with the Galaxy S4 as it comes with a 5-inch touch screen display with 1080 x 1920 resolution at 441 pixel density. The Motorola X Phone features a slightly smaller 4.7-inch screen in order to make the device more convenient to hold in one hand. The device only features a screen resolution of 720p giving it less detail than Samsung's device. Galaxy S4 wins on power in this category while Motorola wins on convenience.
Design
The Samsung Galaxy S4 basically comes with the company's normal plastic based design with some metal around the edges to spruce things up. The Moto X features a trendier look allowing users to customize their device by offering around 16 different backing options. The company was definitely looking to engage the consumer more by allowing them to build their own smartphone to the make of their liking. Motorola easily wins here for innovation.
Processor
The Samsung Galaxy S4 and quad-core 1.6GHz Cortex-A15 paired with a 1.2GHz Cortex-A7. The international variant uses the Exynos Octa 5410 making it an even more powerful device. Motorola's X Phone features the same X8 computing system found on its new Droid line which utilizes eight cores. Both companies should prove to be extremely fast and only time will tell which one is the victor in this category.
Camera
The Motorola X Phone comes with a 10-megapixel camera while the Galaxy S4 packs a 13-megapixel shooter. The former utilizes Clear Pixel technology that improves overall picture quality by letting in 75 percent more light. However, The Verge criticized the device's camera system for processing shots too aggressively and ruining them. The Galaxy S4 packs a solid camera that features great detail. Both cameras are impressive, but Motorola appears to be slightly behind this time around.
Conclusion
Both the Galaxy S4 and Moto X Phone impress on many levels but the Samsung device seems to beat it out in the specs department. The purchase of a Moto X might be a little more fun thanks to the customization options, but the Galaxy S4 packs more of a punch in terms of power.
