Oscars 2013 Best-Dressed: Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence (PHOTOS)

The 85th Annual Oscar Awards have recognized today's best in film, but not before the glamorous stars walked the red carpet.

Sunday's awards show saw celebrities from Amy Adam to Jennifer Lawrence dressed in their very best.

While last year's Oscars saw a lot of pale nude, white, or black gowns, the 2013 awards show saw stars on the red carpet in sequins of metallic shades and as well as pale, spring-colored gowns.

Among the most-talked about gowns was that of Amy Adams. "The Mater" actress wore a light-gray ruffled dress by Oscar de la Renta that landed her at the top of many best-dressed lists of the night.

"The Impossible" actress and Oscar nominee Naomi Watts stunned fans in a metallic dress by Armani Prive on Sunday. Watts described the sequins on the dress and its shoulder cut-out as "Art Deco" and fans agreed

Jessica Chastain also opted for Armani Prive and wore a rose-colored strapless gown on the rep carpet. The Oscar nominee and "Zero Dark Thirty" star paired the dress with simple wavy hair and bright red lips, earning praise from fashion critics.

Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron both chose strapless Couture gowns by Christian Dior for the awards ceremony.

One of the night's top winners for Best Actress, Lawrence's dress featured a fitted bodice with a billowing skirt. The "Silver Linings Playbook" star completed the look with upswept hair, earrings, and a diamond necklace worn backward.

Alternately, Theron donned a white peplum gown that balanced her new pixie haircut.

Next, both selecting bright shades of red, Jennifer Aniston and Kerry Washington also topped many critics' best-dressed lists following the Oscars. Washington's Miu Miu gown featured a sequin-adorned top with a flowing hot-pink skirt, while Aniston paired her usual beach-tousled hair with a vibrant red gown by Valentino.

The Oscars red carpet also saw fashion inspired by the 1920's as well as the film "The Great Gatsby." Halle Berry's long-sleeved Versace dress featured vertical striped and metallic beading, while Stacy Keibler donned more metallic beading and a slapper hairstyle in Armani.

Other notable dresses belonged to Anne Hathaway who wore a light-pink dress by Prada and to Kristen Stewart in a hand-beaded number by Reem Acra, according to MTV News.
