Robert Griffin III Comments on Criticism Before Surgery

Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins quarterback, is responding to critics after many questioned his decision to continue playing with an injured knee that ultimately caused his season to end.

Griffin convinced Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan QB to let him play well into the fourth quarter of the NFC wild-card game against Seattle amid his doctor's concerns last Sunday. As a result, the QB tore his LCL and ACL which resulted in an operation on his knee that took place Wednesday.

Some people chastised both Shanahan and Griffin for choosing to keep the QB in a game where he was already visibly injured.

Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver, expressed his opinion on Twitter.

"That did not look good. (I) think the skins should've took him out after being up 14 nothing," White tweeted.

Many NFL fans blamed Shanahan for Griffin's recent injury.

"Dr. Andrews never authorized RGIII to play and Shanahan never asked him," one person tweeted. "This is 100 percent on Shanahan."

Griffin took to his Twitter to express his appreciation for the criticism that he was hearing.

"I thank God for perspective and because of that I appreciate the support from everyone," Griffin tweeted recently. "I also appreciate the criticism."

However, the QB made it clear that many could not understand his decision since they were not placed in his position.

"Many may question, criticize and think they have all the right answers," Griffin tweeted. "But few have been in the line of fire in battle."

The Redskins starter spoke about ways to handle adversity in the midst of his injury and critics who believed that he should have been taken out of the NFC wild card game early to avoid further aggravating his knee.

"When adversity strikes you respond in one of two ways....You step aside and give in..Or you step up and fight," Griffin tweeted.

Still, the Christian QB spoke about his love for God and seemed optimistic about the future.

"Thank you for your prayers and support," Griffin tweeted. "I love God, my family, my team, the fans, and I love this game. See you guys next season."
