Selena Gomez Reveals If 'Come & Get It' Song Was About Justin Bieber
Selena Gomez is speaking up after her new single "Come & Get It" caused some to question if the subject of the song was ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
"I love you much, too much to hide you, this love ain't finished yet," 20-year-old Gomez sings on her new song.
However, the singer and actress recently revealed that the song was not about Bieber despite some speculation she has been receiving.
"Honestly, to be 100 percent real. It's not really about a specific person," Gomez said on the radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest. "The reason why I wanted this to be the first single was because it exudes, like I said earlier, confidence and strength and that is something I'm willing to share with the world."
Gomez told Seacrest that she wanted to be a good example for her fans.
"That's the place I want to be in and I want to represent something good and be a good example, so I think it's fun," Gomez told Seacrest about the single.
The 20-year-old admitted that she has not been on a date in two months, ending further speculation about her reconciling with Bieber. Bieber, the 19-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter, and Gomez reportedly ended their romantic union last November.
Gomez has made it clear that she has moved on from Bieber when publicly speaking about the Canadian crooner. Gomez seemed to be in good spirits during a recent appearance where she spoke about Bieber on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
Letterman told Gomez that he once made the 19-year-old Canadian crooner cry during a previous conversation.
"The last time he was on, he and I got into a conversation and he said something and then I said something and then he said something and then I said something and I made him cry," Letterman told Gomez on the show.
While Gomez let out a hearty laugh, she also made sure to let Letterman know that he was not the only person to witness an emotional reaction from Bieber.
"Well then that makes two of us," Gomez told Letterman.
Gomez made it clear to Letterman that she was no longer with Bieber and happily single.
Bieber was more forthcoming about his breakup with Gomez in an interview with Billboard earlier this year.
"There's so many rumors," Bieber told Billboard earlier this year. "People say I call Selena every day and she won't pick up the phone or I'm chasing her down, and these are all fake stories."
