Shia LaBeouf Acid Trip Helps Role Playing
A dedicated actor, Shia LaBeouf has admitted that he took a hallucinogenic drug in order to better understand his role in the upcoming film "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman."
The former Disney star wanted to portray his mobster character in the most realistic and accurate manner possible, which meant dropping acid. Citing other films of the past, the 26-year-old actor justified his extreme commitment to acting.
"There's a way to do an acid trip like 'Harold & Kumar,' and there's a way to be on acid," explained LaBeouf speaking to USA Today. "What I know of acting, Sean Penn actually strapped up to that [electric] chair in 'Dead Man Walking.' Those are the guys I look up to."

"The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" also stars Evan Rachel Wood, Rupert Grint, Melissa Leo and Til Schweiger, and is scheduled for release next year.
Meanwhile, John Hillcoat, director of "Lawless" in which LaBeouf starred, clarified that the actor's strategies for improving his performance do not constitute as a method, but are "method-like."
Dropping acid was not the first time LaBeouf implemented his technique for relating to a character.
In "Lawless," which is set during Prohibition, the actor drank copious amounts of moonshine and even admitted that his co-star Mia Wasikowska was so disturbed by his behavior that she tried to quit the project, according to Us Magazine.
Another example of LaBeouf immersing himself into his film roles is revealed in Lars von Trier's new film, "Nymphomaniac." The actor divulged that some of the scenes in the edgy movie are, in fact, real.
"There's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says, 'We're doing it for real,'" the star said, according to MTV News.
"Anything that is 'illegal' will be shot in blurred images," LaBeouf added. "But other than that, everything is happening … It's going to be a wild movie, man."
