Sinead O'Connor No Longer Divorcing Her Husband of 16 Days, Says 'God is Good'
Irish musician Sinead O’Connor announced she is no longer divorcing her new husband.
Just seven days after announcing the end of her 16-day marriage, O’Connor, 45, is saying she has reconsidered her decision. The singer took to her Twitter page to announce that after what she called a “love-making affair” with her husband, the couple has decided to try again with the help of marriage counseling.
“Guess who had a mad love making affair with her own husband last night?” the singer wrote on her Twitter page named “vampyahslayah.”
Sinead O'Connor and her husband Barry Herridge, 38, were married in the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas on Dec. 8. She met Herridge online after openly asking for a man to step forward and be her lover.
On Christmas Eve O’Connor reportedly ended the marriage after she took her drug counselor husband on a search to find drugs in an unsavory neighborhood which frightened him.
“We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous,” O’Connor told The Sun, “I wasn't scared- but he’s a drugs counsellor. What was I thinking?”
“Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened- that kind of messed everything up a bit really,” she added.
She wrote a long letter on her website stating that just three hours after the wedding the marriage began to crumble as a result of people close to her husband interfering.
“There was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me. These were people who had never met me but had formed opinions of me based on what they read about ‘Sinéad O’Connor’ in the media, etc.,” she wrote on her site.
O’Connor, who has openly expressed disdain for organized religion and tore up a picture of the pope in 1992 on Saturday Night Live, thanked God for saving her marriage.
“Yay!!! we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend again an (sic) stay married but we did rush, so we gonna return to b friend g friend and be sickenly (sic) happy an go counsellin (sic) an move in like a yr like regular people,” the star wrote on Twitter.
“But stay married an we all in love an f--- every other m----------- who don't like it.. so me all happy!! me love me hubby.. he love me... f--- who no like it.. God is good!”
The Little White Chapel is famous for producing quickie weddings. Celebrities like Britney Spears and Mickey Rooney have been married at The Little White Chapel.
