Sprint iPhone 5 Release Date Rumors Circulate
It has been rumored that the iPhone 5 will become available on the Sprint network on Oct. 7; the date that Apple has scheduled a special media event.
It was reported earlier this month that Sprint Nextel would be joining Verizon and AT&T in getting the next generation iPhone. According to the Wall Street Journal people “familiar with the matter” indicated that the carrier would be in line to get the iPhone 5 in October.
The addition of Sprint to carriers distributing Apple’s flagship product means more iPhones should be sold in the U.S. in 2012 than ever before.
Commentators have been saying that the Sprint deal could mean an extra 6 million phones being sold next year, which would be an increase of approximately 5 percent.
The deal is a potential life-saver for Sprint and will now allow the network compete on a level with the likes of AT&T and Verizon. Prior to the deal numerous commentators were saying disgruntled customers would be preparing to switch networks to other major networks to obtain the iPhone 5.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect Sprint to post 2011 revenue of $33.47 billion.
Sprint recorded revenue of $32.6 billion in 2010.
Now with the deal to include the iPhone 5 in its sales arsenal, the upwards trend for the company should continue for the immediate future. Analysts told Thomson Reuters that they expect Sprint to post an increased 2012 revenue of approximately $34.23 billion.
