Sprint Schedules an iPhone 5 Release Event?

Sprint has scheduled a media event on October 7 which coincidentally is the rumored release date for Apple’s iPhone 5.

The service provider confirmed last week that they would be joining AT&T and Verizon in carrying this year’s most anticipated smartphone.

With an event scheduled by Sprint for the supposed release date, it seems that the rumors may be correct in stating that the next generation iPhone will be released on October 7.

According to the Wall Street Journal, unnamed sources revealed that the event indeed is specifically geared towards the release of the iPhone 5.

Other major TV networks and news outlets also confirmed that the event was planned around the device’s release.

The Christian Post contacted Sprint, but the company would not offer any official statements to confirm whether the event was being held in connection with the release of the iPhone 5.

Any information regarding the next generation iPhone should be revealed at Apple’s media event which is planned for this month.

Normally Apple uses this time to touch on the newest iPods, but this year, most tech junkies are expecting iPhone 5 rumors to be cleared up at the annual event.

With competition such as Samsung’s Galaxy S II, powered by the android operating system, already hot on the market overseas, Apple seems ready to finally unveil its highly anticipated device, and gear up for smartphone supremacy.

The company teaming with Sprint is a fairly simple venture. Sprints networks are quite similar to Verizon’s therefore Apple will not have to make many changes in order to make the iPhone 5 compatible with the wireless service provider.

Coming to Sprint is a big move for Apple who used to sell their iPhone exclusively through AT&T starting in 2007.

Verizon recently received the rights to sell the iPhone and now with Sprint getting involved there is no doubt Apple will be cashing in.
