Taylor Swift Defends High School-Aged Boyfriend Conor Kennedy
Taylor Swift has addressed rumors about her relationship with Conor Kennedy while also defending the 18-year-old's maturity.
Swift, 22, first became romantically linked to Kennedy, a high school senior of Deerfield Academy boarding school, during the summer months.
While her music about romance gone wrong is famous, Swift recently admitted that she continues to fall in love easily. Subsequently, the "Speak Now" singer has been photographed kissing and holding hands with Kennedy.
Retaliating against Entertainment Tonight's reference to a report where Swift "kidnapped" Kennedy by flying him to Nashville, Tenn., the singer said explained that her rumored boyfriend was a "grown man."
"You can't kidnap a grown man," Swift told the Huffington Post. "These are serious accusations, now! It's an interesting way to spin something into a story. See, this is why I don't read this stuff."
Moreover, the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer opened up about love while speaking to Rolling Stone magazine recently, dropping hints at her relationship with Kennedy.
"The way I look at love is you have to follow it, and fall hard, if you fall hard," explained the country music darling. Swift added that she falls in love regardless of the misgivings of other people, possibly referring to the criticism against Kennedy's age.
"You have to forget about what everyone else thinks," continued the singer. "It has to be us-against-the-world mentality. You have to make it work by prioritizing it, and by falling in love really fast, without thinking too hard. If I think too hard about a relationship I'll talk myself out of it … I have rules for a lot of area of my life. Love is not going to be one of them," she told the magazine.
Swift is featured on the cover of Rolling Stones' October issue. Meanwhile, her next album "Red" will hit stores on Oct. 22.
