Texas Rangers Tie Championship Series With Cardinals

The Texas Rangers tied the World Series Thursday, when they beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1.

The ninth inning seemed to work in the Rangers’ favor, when the team made two runs. Ian Kinsler, Rangers’ second baseman, stole a base in the ninth inning to help his team advance in the world series – evenly matched with their opponents.

Ron Washington, Rangers’ manager, said he was proud of his team, according to MLB.com.

"Tonight was one of those great games you will continue to see," Washington said. "I've got to say to those of you with a bad heart, watch yourself."

Elvis Andrus, Rangers’ shortstop, spoke about Kinsler helping the team advance on MLB.com.

“Ian really stepped up for us," Andrus said. "We never give up. That's the way we play. We understand the game can change on one pitch, and it did."

However, Kinsler was much more modest about his role in advancing the Rangers with a win to tie up the series.

“You know, it wasn't a Series-saving rally, but it was huge," Kinsler said in an MLB.com report.

"I mean, all these games are very big. It's the World Series, last two teams – every victory is huge. To be able to come from behind against a guy like that on the mound – it was a big win for us," he added.

Nelson Cruz, Rangers’ outfielder, expressed his excitement for the Rangers’ win to MLB networks.

"That was amazing," Cruz stated. "That's who we are. That was a great win. It couldn't have been bigger than that."

Tony La Russa, Cardinals’ manager, said he respected the Rangers’ game Thursday.

"You're playing against legitimate competition, and if they get the win and beat you, you tip your cap," La Russa said. "We did the best we could and they did it better, so the Series is 1-1."
