Tsarnaev Friend Killed in Orlando by FBI Agents, Suspect Was Wanted for Questioning

A man who was wanted for question by the FBI for his possible aid to Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot and killed by FBI agents Wednesday morning.

Initial reports indicate that FBI agents shot and killed 26-year-old Ibragim Todashev, who is thought to have befriended Tsarnaev while the two were martial arts students. Agents believe that Todashev may have been involved or in some way provided aid to Tsarnaev in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing.

An associate of Todashev, Khusn Taramiv, revealed that Todashev was shot and killed by agents on the 6000 block of Peregrine Avenue in Orlando, according to The Orlando Sentinal. There is no indication on what prompted the police intervention.

A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office stated that police arrested Todashev on May 4 for aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

While a spokesman for the FBI said this is still an ongoing investigation and that more details will be provided later in the day.

"The agent encountered the suspect while conducting official duties," Dave Couvertier, FBI spokesman, said in a statement. "We are still gathering facts involving the shooting incident."

Tsarnaev, 26, one of the suspects in the Boston bombings, died in a shootout with police. He had been on a U.S. government database of potential terrorism suspects. His brother, Dzhokhar, is still recovering from multiple gunshots wounds in federal prison.
