Charlie Sheen Donates $1 Million to Troops to Boost Declining 'Anger Management' Ratings?

Charlie Sheen vowed to make history on Monday by donating a substantial amount of money to U.S. troops.

The troubled actor pledged to give $1 million to the U.S.O (United Service Org.), which is sure to become the largest single contribution that the USO has ever received from one individual, according to TMZ.com.

"It's an honor for me to be able to give back to these men and women of the military who have done so much for all of us," Sheen said in a statement.

"They put their lives on the line for us every day, and I'm just happy that my work on 'Anger Management' can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families," he added.

The 46-year-old will donate 1 percent of the profits from earnings from his new series "Anger Management," with a minimum of $1 million and an unlimited cap. This means that the more money Sheen makes, the more he will give to the USO.

While the vast majority of fans have applauded the move, some critics suspect that while Sheen's intentions are good, he may simply be trying to increase ratings for his FX series due to a reported decline in viewership.

Although the show debuted less than one month ago its fourth and most recent episode reportedly saw a 28 percent decline in viewers, averaging approximately 2.4 million viewers, according to xfinity.comcast.net.

The former "Two and a Half Men" star attracted 3.4 million viewers to his show for episode 3 just one week prior, and the exorbitant pledge may be an attempt to boost those figures.

The Fox series attracted at least 5.7 million viewers during its opening debut on June 28, but has since seen a steady decline.
