Crystal Renn, Plus-Size Model Frame, Dwindled Down to a Zero? (PHOTO)

Crystal Renn has faced a long time struggle with her weight, but some admired her courage after the model dropped her anorexic lifestyle, gained 70 pounds, and became a plus sized model. Fewer people were supportive however, when the former 16 sized model dropped back to an 8.

The former plus-sized model showed up at 9th Annual Spring Dinner Dance New Year's In April: A Fool's Fete at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City wearing an olive green gown and an unexpected blonde hairdo.

Renn began her modeling career at 14 but was later told that she was not thin enough to break through in the industry. Struggling with anorexia for a long period of time afterwards, Renn returned back to the modeling world in 2006 weighing an additional 70 pounds and walking the catwalk as a plus-sized model.

Anorexia fears began circling the model again in 2010 when she debuted a new, much thinner figure. Renn however, does not seem concerned with where her weight is at this point, considering herself to be in an "interesting" position.

"I've been a double-zero, children's clothes, at 95 pounds, and I've been all the way up to a size 16 and everything in between," Mail Online reported Renn as saying. "Now I'm a 6, 8, sometimes a 10 depending on what designer I'm wearing. And that's an interesting place to be in fashion, where extremes are the norm."

While the newly platinum blonde model has not revealed the cause behind her weight loss, many were unsupportive of her new look.

"She looks awful as a blonde and her beautiful, unique features have disappeared along with the weight - she's just 'any other' model now....shame," VS wrote on the Mail Online blog.

"Well done Crystal: you have successfully managed to transform yourself from being beautiful, inspirational and unique to being yet another skinny, miserable looking identikit fashion model," LouElla said.

Others suggested that the model should be left alone.

"As long as she's happy why should it matter what anyone else thinks?" Miss_Amy wrote.

"This is an extremely beautiful woman, who looks like she's taken on a serious work out regime. She looks healthy. Like she eats healthy and lives healthy. Now stop it with the nasty comments. Sheesh," D wrote.
