iPhone 5 Release Date: Apple's 4G Failure With iPhone 4S an Opportinuty for Android
With Apple being the world leader in trend setting technology, many feel yesterday's iPhone 4S launch showed a company struggling for new ideas as it did not deliver a true successor, the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 4S has no major changes over its predecessor the iPhone 4. The changes come in a better 8-megapixel camera, a voice recognition program called Siri, and unified notifications which Androids already have.
The new version of the phone only updates some of the year-old technology allowing competitors like Windows and Google to play catch up.

Perhaps the biggest failure on Apple's part is they haven't come up with a true 4G iPhone while Android and HTC's EVO 4G are already at that level and performing well. Also, Google's software has overtaken Apple's as it accounts for roughly half of all smartphone sales.
The closest the 4S will get to 4G is on Oct. 14 when a semi 4G iPhone 4S will come to AT&T while Verizon and Sprint will get slower versions.
Google is rapidly picking up steam as they proposed the purchase of Motorola's handset business. The Droid Bionic on Verizon uses 4G LTE and features a dual-core processor making it the top smartphone – Google's new chip if they purchase Motorola.
The iPhone 4S was Apple's biggest announcement since former CEO Steve Jobs stepped down and Tim Cook took over.
Upon the announcement of the iPhone 4S, Apple's stock dropped 3.6 percent.
The phone will run on the iOS 5 operating system.
The phone will hit the market on Oct. 12 and come in three grades – 16GB ($199), 32GB ($299), and 64GB ($399).
