Marijuana Advocacy Group Announces Support for Roseanne Barr Presidency

The National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws has announced its support for Roseanne Barr's presidential run.

Allen St. Pierre, the Executive Director of NORML, told TMZ that the marijuana advocacy group would support any candidate "who will adopt a pro-cannabis law reform plan as part of their political platform."

"NORML welcomes Roseanne's public support for ending a failed 74-year-old Cannabis Prohibition," St. Pierre added.

Last week, Barr announced she would seek the Green Party's nomination and the Commander in Chief position on the platform of legalizing marijuana.

"The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants -- bought and paid for by the one percent -- who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people," Barr told reporters.

Barr has a well-documented history of being pro the legalization of marijuana. In the mid 1990s, the loud mouth comedienne turned politician did an entire episode on the drug called "A Stash from the Past" on her now classic sitcom "Roseanne."

Roseanne also lives in both Hawaii and California; two U.S. states with more progressive marijuana laws.

On an appearance with Jay Leno last Thursday, Barr told the late night host she was serious about seeking the nomination, and that Sarah Palin's potential candidacy for vice president in 2008 is "kinda what got me to thinking that I too should run for president, if she can."

Barr also said that she created her own political party, called the "Green Tea Party," which integrates beliefs from both the Green and Tea Party movements.

But Marijuana is not the only issue Barr will focus on.

"As POTUS [President of the United States] I will forgive all student loans and ALL HOMEOWNER DEBT AND ALL CREDIT CARD DEBT," the comedienne wrote on her Twitter account, which she is using to promote her candidacy.
