Windows OS Explodes Onto iPhone and Android Devices
Apple iPhone 4s on Airlines are not the only things exploding in the realm of Apple products, as Microsoft dropped a bombshell of its own this week.
The software giant launched the Windows Phone 7 Mango 7.5 operating system and made it available for iPhone owners to test on their devices.
Android users will also get an opportunity to perform a test run on the software.
This comes as a major surprise since Microsoft, Apple and Google are fierce competitors.
Microsoft launched a new HTML 5 website this week that allows iPhone and Android users to test out the Windows Phone software. This trial run of the system only requires Android or iPhone users to visit a website to gain access to the basic layout of the system. No downloads, registration or data usage is required to run this demo on either an Android or Apple device. The demo does not allow the user to go too in depth with the Windows Phone software. It shows a list of contacts but the user cannot call or text any of them. It also gives the user access to other features, such as voice recognition, but unfortunately, it cannot be used.
Microsoft employs a small blinking blue dot to help navigate the user around the system. The blue dot guides the user through various Windows for each area in the system including Messaging, Outlook, Pictures, Phone and Calendar. It also provides the user with a quick tutorial on how to comment on friend’s pictures and use other features such as the messaging system to view texts and send them to others.
This demon gives the user a basic feel of a Windows Phone compared to other software such as iOS and Android.
