ASUS Transformer Prime to Feature Ice Cream Sandwich
ASUS recently announced that it will be releasing a 7-inch Transformer Prime tablet that will feature Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, at Nvidia’s press event at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show.
This tablet will be priced at $249 and is set to be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core chip. The 7-inch model should make for a strong competitor against the Amazon Kindle Fire, a device that seems to be controlling the lower to mid-end tablet market.
This Transformer Prime tablet will include Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest Android software that launched on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone last month. Its 7-inch display will be 1280x800 pixels giving it a full HD experience. Its quad-core chip should provide for a lightning fast experience while navigating on the device.

ASUS launched the 10.1-inch version of the Transformer Prime tablet late last year. That device also features a quad-core processor that proves to make it more efficient when it comes to multitasking.
It also sports a display with 1280x800 pixels with Gorilla Glass making it a sturdy device as well has having a 1.2-megapixel camera in the front and an 8-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with flash in the back.
The larger model runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb and will be upgradable to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich once the update is released. An optional docking station with a full QWERTY keyboard is available for it as well.
Nvidia’s Tegra 3 chip allows the devices its installed in to perform at a level that outclasses many of today’s high end devices. “The Tegra 3 chip inside the Prime really makes the difference," wrote 9to5 Google. “The forthcoming tablet/notebook hybrid has the power of the previous generation of Transformer and smokes competition, including the Galaxy S2, Motorola Xoom and Galaxy Nexus.”
