Chicago Bears Defeat Philadelphia Eagles After Questionable Vick Performance

The Chicago Bears defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night 30-24.

The Bears’ victory helped the team improve their record to 5-3. Although the team was down in the fourth quarter, Bears’ QB Jay Cutler led his team with a five yard touchdown pass to Earl Bennett.

The Eagles had a lead into the fourth, and managed to give it up for the fourth time in the 2011 season. The Bears were able to stop Jeremy Maclin at the 30, following a nine yard catch on fourth-and-10 with under two minutes in the fourth.

Lovie Smith, Bears’ head coach, was confident that he could stop Michael Vick going into the game. The coach said his team’s athleticism made that possible.

"One thing you have to do is be able to match him a little bit athletic-ability-wise, and we do,” Smith said. “You're going to miss him from time to time. You just need other players there.”

The Bears’ coach said his team’s defense was secure enough to get the job done.

“Our style of defense, gang tackle, everybody get to the ball… you need that for a player like that,” Smith said. “We're just going to play our normal defensive game that we believe in. We're not going to change philosophies or anything like that this week."

Vick’s performance on Monday night proved Smith’s words true. The Eagles’ QB fell to 0-4 as a starter in a Bears’ game.

Vick managed to contribute 21 of 38 passes for 213 yards and had one interception. Although Cutler made 18 of 32 for 208 yards, he helped his team score two touchdowns.

Some fans on Twitter questioned Vick’s performance on Monday night.

"Was it just me or did Jay Cutler play more like Michael Vick tonight than Michael Vick did," one person tweeted.

The Eagles now trail the New York Giants in the NFC East, while the Bears are third in the NFC North, trailing Green Bay and Detroit.
