'Grey's Anatomy' Actor Jesse Williams Weds Girlfriend Over Labor Day
Jesse Williams of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" has tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Aryn Drake-Lee over the long holiday weekend.
Williams, 32, wed Drake-Lee, a real estate agent, during a private ceremony in Los Angeles, a source confirmed to People magazine on Sunday. The couple wore elegant evening wear and exchanged their vows before just close friends and family.
"Jesse was beaming with joy throughout the entire ceremony," divulged an insider and wedding guest, to the magazine. "It was the perfect night with lots of smiling, laughing and emotion. You could feel the love they have for each other. They're madly in love!"
The actor had been dating Drake-Lee, 31, for over five years. Williams was introduced to his bride before landing his role on the medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," and was a schoolteacher in New York. He taught high school and middle school ahead of his success in Hollywood.
"She's been with me through all different facets of my career," explained the actor to USA Today in 2010. "She's stuck with me through thick and thick and thin. We know each other in and out."
Still gushing about his girlfriend at the time, Williams also explained his love of Drake-Lee in a past interview.
"She is her own person," said the actor, according to People. "Being intelligent and self-made is a big deal for me."
Williams' breakthrough role arrived in 2008 in the movie "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" where he portrayed the love interest of actress Alexis Bledel.
He is best known on "Grey's Anatomy" as Dr. Jackson Avery, and the Chicago native also starred in this year's horror film "The Cabin in the Woods."
Williams, who is of Swedish and African-American descent, graduated from Temple University. He appeared on an episode of "Law and Order" in 2006, and his credits also include off Broadway hits such as "The American Dream" and "The Sandbox."
