Kanye West vs. Sway Calloway in Heated Interview: 'You Ain't Got the Answers,' Says Rapper
Kanye West and Sway Calloway participated in a heated exchange when the rap mogul appeared on the latter's Sirius XM radio show "Sway in the Morning." West was questioned about his desire to have corporate support and responded angrily.
When host Calloway asked West, the 36-year-old rapper currently embarking on his nationwide "Yeezus" tour, about doing things without corporate backing, the entertainer seemed to get upset and berated his interviewer.
"How Sway," West questioned in a hostile manner. "You ain't got the answers, man; you ain't got the answers! I've been doing this more than you, you ain't got the answers!"
However, Calloway did not back down and told West that he thought they were friends while reminding him that he was not performing at an "f------ show." But the rap mogul explained his frustration to Calloway.
"You trying to give me advice on something -- you ain't got the answers," West insisted to Calloway. "You ain't spend $13 million of your own money trying to empower yourself."
Still, the rap mogul later apologized to his friend and interviewer.
"I love you, man. I'm sorry,"West apologized during the interview. "This is exactly what happened at the French Revolution. I'm sure there were some arguments with Harriet Tubman and other people talking about let's go this way, let's go that way."
This is not the first time West has made some questionable comments about Calloway. Earlier this year, West was upset that he was not placed higher on MTV's "Hottest MCs in the Game" list.
West ranked no. 7 on a list that Calloway helped compile, and called New York City radio station Hot 97 to reveal some information about one of the members of the MTV voting committee who placed him on the list.
"I gave [MTV News reporter] Sway his first TV. He came over to my crib in Newark, N.J. I was living in Newark doing beats for Jay and Beans and all them and I was getting a new TV and I gave Sway his first TV," West revealed in his rant to Hot 97 earlier this year. "And really I didn't really wanna even like call to talk about the no. 7 list, I just wanna tell everybody that I gave Sway his first TV. And he need to remember that."
