Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich Update Coming to India Next Week

The Android 4.0.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be available in India by the end of May, according to a recent Twitter post by Samsung India.

"ICS upgrade for Galaxy S2 is just around the corner," tweeted the company this week.

Samsung India was also contacted by YouMobile.org, who said the company confirmed that the update will be available next week.

The company also updated its list of countries that have or will be rolling out the Android 4.0.3, Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the Galaxy S2 and its Skyrocket variant.

No dates for the upgrade were confirmed for the U.S. However, the list does provide Samsung fans with the devices that are confirmed for ICS in the states.

The roll out of the Ice Cream Sandwich update has been slow, but Samsung has promised that it will be in the United States soon.

The company stated that owners of the older versions of the Galaxy S2 should be able to update their devices in the coming weeks. However, customers who do not want to wait until it comes out can purchase new S2 models with the software pre-installed.

The Korean electronics giant has already begun selling new a variant of the S2 with the latest Android software pre-installed.

These Samsung Galaxy S2s that come with Ice Cream Sandwich are now available in parts of India.

YouMobile.org received some information earlier this week that revealed that Samsung is now shipping these all new Galaxy S2 I9100 units that already have the software.

Customers not willing to wait for the ICS update for the S2 can instead pick up the Galaxy S3 when it launches at the end of this month.

The Galaxy S3 also comes with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed along with a slew of other impressive features.
